HOW TO USE YOUR LIBRARY

Functions--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

  • The Central Library of Maheshtala College works in open access mode.

  • Students can search for books in their own hand and they can select it directly from the rack.

  • Computer and Internet facility is there in the Library and with N-List Programme students can access 6000 plus e-journals and 1,00,000 plus e-books.

  • Full automation is in progress.

  • Librarian and Library staff always help readers to trace the books and also helps them searching e-books and e-journals.

  • Proper and user-friendly cataloguing of books to enable students access books easily, catalogue cabinet placed in the proper position

  • In front of the main entrance of the Library, there is a guide map which enables students to access different subject books.

  • Library rules and regulations are placed in the library notice board.

  • Issue Return timings displayed prominently in the Library Notice Board.

  • Library Orientation Programme is done to make aware of the students about library resources.

 

How to locate a book from the shelves -----------------------------------------------------

 

There is a guide map in front of the main entrance of the library. Books are arranged on shelves according to this guide map. Students after depositing their bags and other materials in the baggage counter have to sign in the register, and then they have to show their library lending card. Now the student may go to the respective shelves. Students may borrow two books at a time for a duration of ten days. After choosing the desired books, he or she has to fill the requisition slip and go to the circulation counter. Counter staff will help them to access the books and at the time of lending, the return date is mentioned at the date slip inside the book. Students must ensure before taking the book in the home that there is no mutilation or any marking inside the book. Otherwise, he or she shall be responsible for the mutilation or marking.

How to access digital resources ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

As our college is a member of INFLIBNET, so through the NLIST programme we have access to over 6000 plus e-journals and 1,00,000 plus e-books freely. Students first signs in the proper register, then with the help of student ID and password they sign in to member’s login to the INFLIBNET NLIST home page. Then they shall read or download their desired article, e-books, etc.

FAQ

  1. How can I become a member of the Library?

Ans: After completing the Orientation Program a library form is circulated. You have to fill the form, Library Cards, and submit the form again. After 10-12 days you shall get back the cards. From then you shall take books for a home for a period of 10 days, two books at a time.

 

2. What is the Library opening time?

Ans: The library opens at 10 am and closes at 5 pm (Monday to Friday).

The library opens at 10 am and closes at 2 pm (Saturday).

Library transaction time 10.30 am - 4.30 pm.

 

3. How can I locate my books?

Ans: Our library is open access. You may directly go to your own subject rack following Library Bay Guide and may choose your books.

 

4. If I can not find my book what shall I do?

Ans: You report it to the Librarian or Library Staff and two solutions for you, one you may take the second choice of the book or you may give a demand option, when this particular book returns in the Library, this particular book is reserved for you.

 

5. How can I give any suggestion to Library authority?

Ans: You may write feedback or your own suggestion to the feedback box.

 

6. Can I bring my personal books to the Library?

Ans: No, it is not allowed.

 

7. Can I renew a book?

Ans: Yes you can renew books for one time.

 

8. How much fine I have to pay?

Ans: You have to pay Rupee 1 per day per book for not returning the book after due date.

 

9. What shall I do if I lost a Library book?

Ans: If you lose/misplace a library book, you have to apply to the Principal, and then you have to pay the full price of the books in the Cash Section, with penalty.

 

10. What is the process of Library clearance? 

Ans: After form fills up of   Final Semester, you have to clear all library dues in the Departmental Library and Central Library. Library clearance is issued on receipt of two written clearances.
